The Mentor Chair · Building a clientele
The situation
You have time available, no clients scheduled into it yet, and discounting looks like the fastest way to fill it.
From the mentor chair
Discounting isn't automatically good or bad. The strategy behind it matters.
Don't automatically build your clientele by becoming the cheapest option.
Instead, consider introductory offers that create high perceived value for the client without creating a large product cost or dramatically increasing appointment time.
The question isn't “How cheap can I make this?” It's “How can I give the right new client a reason to try me?”
Mentor principle
Don't discount your value. Create value strategically.
Behind-the-chair tip
Before offering a promotion, consider its product cost, additional time, the type of client and service you're trying to attract, and what you want that client to return for.
Look at your numbers
Run this situation through the tools you already have.
